Osteoporosis – can I still get chiropractic treatment- yes!

Osteoporosis is a condition in which the bones become fragile and weak due to low calcium levels. This can put those affected at increased risk of fractures, especially in post-menopausal women or individuals who have taken long-term steroid medications.

Having osteoporosis does not necessarily mean that you cannot receive chiropractic care for problems such as neck and shoulder pain, back pain and arthritic pain. Your chiropractor will be able to modify treatment methods to cater for someone with osteoporosis and will also be able to advise patients on their posture, lifestyle and exercise pattern or where further tests might be necessary.
